Abstract
This paper treats the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on the development drop and the effects of shutdown, ‘stay-at-home and ‘social distancing’ policy on the marketing performance. The hospitality industry has been checked within the energy categories. A sample of some markets (non-digital) is selected, allocated in a high-class community in Cairo. The monthly energy consumptions are inserted as the input data and the readings are introduced for 5 years including the 2020 year. The sample consists of ready wear markets (2), various commercial shops and markets (9), vegetable shop (1) and an iron service activity (1). The investigation depends on the energy used for markets as a base for evaluation. The general development drop is derived for the period while the drop ratio for the energy consumption is computed and discussed. Different types of ratios are implanted and estimated to find out the actual pandemic effect on the marketing activity. A classification for the markets in study is accounted according to the level of energy consumption. Four markets are locked down completely in 2020 and omitted from the pandemic analysis despite the readings were reasonable till the crisis. Three diverging durations are tested for the development drop as the 5 years, 10 months, and the year 2020 for all markets within the investigation. The statistical parameters of maximum and minimum values besides the mean value are implanted. The sorting of markets is reflected in three types {general markets, manual (vegetable and iron service), and ready wear markets} where the total characteristic is hosted. The per unit system is reflected through two proposed factors where the first computes the development drop of pandemic month relative to the corresponding month of the previous 4 years. The second proceeds the general month pattern of development within the 4 previous years based on the monthly readings of energy consumptions for each market and all together. The results proved the markets which sharply obeyed the lockdown regulations according to the energy drop determination.
